The Episode Is the Unit of Measurement

Seasons have nothing to do with it, and that is the first point to get straight, because a short drama is not measured in seasons. The format, as published, is defined narrowly: vertical 9:16 series built from episodes of one to two minutes, usually 20 to 100 episodes per story. In TheWrap’s account, Western-made episodes sit in an even tighter band, 60 to 100 seconds apiece. So how long what is reelshort one runs depends entirely on whether you mean a single episode or the entire story. A single episode is shorter than most pop songs. A full series can outlast a feature film, and the longest outlast two. I produced every total run time in this piece myself, by multiplying a published episode count by that published episode-length range. There is no app among those I checked that publishes a total run time, so nobody can hand you one.

The Counts Run From 30 to 100

Episode length hardly moves between titles, but episode counts swing wildly. The twelve series I could check against an official app page run from 30 at the low end to exactly 100 at the high end. GoodShort’s My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen is the short one at 30, close to the floor of the 20-to-100 definition. The long one is GoodShort’s The Dragon King’s Return at 100, landing precisely on the ceiling. The ReelShort titles fall in between: The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband at 60, Not the Bride He Wanted at 57, Love on the Sidelines at 64, Fated to the Alpha at 70, True Luna at 61 including its trailer and Breaking the Ice at 70 including its trailer. The ReelShort movie page has Married at First Sight at 89 episodes, while GoodShort gives Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter at 64, Three Strikes, Dad’s Out at 65 and Kidnapped by the Mafia at 86. All twelve added together come to 816 episodes, which is an average of 68 per series and a median of roughly 64. What matters is the clustering: most short series cluster in the sixties, and the extremes are exceptions.

Why a Few Counts Need an Asterisk

Anyone quoting an episode count should say which page it came from, since these counts are slipperier than they look. Its own official page lists The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband at 60, yet third-party listings for the same show give 49 and 120, neither of which belongs near a calculation. Inside a single site, Married at First Sight shows the same problem: the movie page says 89 episodes, and another page for the same series says 90. That one-episode gap means nothing to a viewer and everything to anyone claiming precision. True Luna at 61 and Breaking the Ice at 70, two of the counts above, are explicitly flagged as including the trailer, so the story proper is one episode shorter in each case. I have kept the published figure instead of quietly subtracting, because quietly adjusting a number is how bad data spreads. Every count is a label attached to one page on one date, not a permanent property of the show.

The Sum, Stated Plainly

The entire method is below, so you can redo it or reject it. The published episode count times one minute gives the floor, times two minutes gives the ceiling, and that is your range. A 60-episode series therefore gives 60 to 120 minutes, or one to two hours. For the 100-episode Dragon King’s Return it gives 100 to 200 minutes, so between one hour forty and three hours twenty. If a show was made in the West, the 60-to-100-second band from TheWrap narrows things: the same 100 episodes then work out to between 100 and 167 minutes. None of it comes from ReelShort, GoodShort or anyone else, and none accounts for recaps, intros or the trailers a couple of the counts include. Two published numbers are all these estimates rest on, and I would rather show the working than fake a precision the sources do not support.

The Twelve Documented Series, Timed Out

That multiplication is applied to every title above in the table below. The counts are taken from each show’s own app page, and the run times are mine. Each range is a floor and a ceiling rather than a prediction, because real episodes land somewhere inside it. Because the format definition is the same on both, the platform column matters less than people assume.

Series title App Episode count Estimated total run time (my calculation)
My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen GoodShort 30 30 to 60 min
Not the Bride He Wanted ReelShort 57 57 to 114 min
The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband ReelShort 60 60–120 min
True Luna ReelShort 61 including the trailer 61 to 122 min
Love on the Sidelines ReelShort 64 64–128 min
Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter GoodShort 64 64 to 128 min
Three Strikes, Dad’s Out GoodShort 65 65–130 min
Fated to the Alpha ReelShort 70 70 to 140 min
Breaking the Ice ReelShort 70 including the trailer 70–140 min
Kidnapped by the Mafia GoodShort 86 86 to 172 min
Married at First Sight ReelShort 89 on the movie page 89–178 min
The Dragon King’s Return GoodShort 100 100–200 min

Two things are hard to miss in that last column. Only one of the twelve could fill a single hour and stop, and only one could stretch past three hours. All the others are a two-hour film’s worth of story delivered in sixty-odd pieces.

What a Binge Actually Takes

Run time alone is the easy part of the calculation, and the misleading one. At 60 to 120 minutes, a 60-episode short drama is a single evening, comfortably shorter than one long blockbuster. The whole twelve-title table stacks up to 816 episodes, which by the same multiplication is roughly 14 to 27 hours, or two to four working days. Left out of that total is everything between the episodes. Free opening episodes run out fast, and every unlock after that is a tap, a coin balance or a rewarded ad, and ReelShort’s own blog says one ad unlocks two premium episodes. At that rate fifty paid episodes means twenty-five ads, and since no company publishes how long those ads run, I will not invent a number. People watching short dramas online at a steady pace usually find the real evening runs longer than the arithmetic says. For anyone who would rather buy their way past the interruptions, a weekly pass costs about $19.99 in the US App Store as of September 2026, though prices vary by country and platform and change.

How Two Minutes Shapes the Script

Far from being just a stat, length here is the script’s structure. When an episode runs 60 to 100 seconds, the writer has room for roughly one beat and one reversal, and the reversal has to land on the final shot. Hence a hook that arrives before you have settled, and cliffhangers that feel relentless rather than occasional. TheWrap reports $150,000 to $300,000 per series and shoots of eight to ten days, so production is working to that same clock. A ten-day shoot that has to yield seventy of them leaves nobody room for leisurely scenes. Part of that shape is the paywall: usually the first eight to ten episodes are free, and ReelShort’s blog gives five to fifteen, putting the first real decision point about ten minutes in. A 64-episode show such as Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter therefore has to seed a betrayal, a reversal and a payoff inside about the run time of one film, chopped into pieces that each have to earn the next tap.

Choosing a Series by Its Length

Reading the numbers turns picking into something practical rather than guesswork. If you want a single sitting and a clean finish, look for counts in the thirties, which My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen demonstrates at 30 episodes. For something to last a week of commutes, the sixties are the sweet spot, and most short dramas sit there anyway. Anything near 100 promises more subplots, and a bill that grows in step. Before you start, check the count on the show’s own page rather than a fan listing, since a gap between 49 and 120 for one title is exactly the error that ruins a plan. Then do the multiplication yourself, because it takes five seconds and nobody else is doing it for you. That is the whole trick to knowing how long a short series will really hold you.
